Clarke's grandpa, Papaw, passed away last Friday, rather unexpectedly. He was 85 and we loved him so much.
He was hilarious and was always playing games with the kids, buying them trinkets he found at garage sales, chasing them around with "The Claw."
One time when Huston was eating pancakes at Cracker Barrel with Granny and Papaw, Papaw told him "You eat the pan, I'll eat the cakes." Huston thought that was hilarious and it became a favorite joke.
When we told Huston about Papaw passing away, he asked us, "The one who says 'the pan and the cakes?'" Then later, Huston started saying in a funny voice, "'Naughty bird, don't poop on my mailbox.' Papaw said that." Another of Huston's favorite Papaw sayings is "Yum yum eat 'em up," a random quote from an episode of Little Rascals.
I'm so grateful for these sweet little memories, and so glad that Huston and Arden both got to know Papaw, even though they're still so young.
We'll all miss you, Papaw.
